Stone Town is one of the few intact historical Swahili coastal trading towns of East Africa. It’s a compilation of small shops, a variety of people, bustling markets and unique places to eat. It is known for its mosques, churches and Hindu temples. When in Stone Town, you will visit the historical sites such as the Anglican church that David Livingstone (one of the Missionaries who helped abolish Slave Trade in East Africa) founded, the Palace which was erected in 1883 also known as the House of Wonders. It is a former sultan’s palace with a clock tower.

The Old Fort now houses a cultural center and a stone amphitheater. In one day you will be able to take in all of these sites mentioned such as the House of Wonders, the Palace Museum and the site of the former slave market at the Anglican Cathedral Church. Enjoy the walking through the narrow streets to explore the stunning carved Arab doors with brass studs, carved balconies, the old post office or the kanga market. This old town takes you back into time and if you love culture than this is a place you won’t want to miss seeing.

A holiday to the Exotic Island of Zanzibar would be incomplete without a visit to the spice plantations. It was the sultan of Oman who first introduced these kinds of plantations on the island in 1873. Breathe in Zanzibar’s scents and spices on a cultural tour and learn all about the exotic plants that grow on this amazing island.

You will learn the island’s remarkable role in the historic spice trade, taste fresh spices and seasonal fruits. Some rare plants like henna, the perfume tree and lipstick tree are used for their value in preparing cosmetics. You will love different spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, vanilla or black pepper and you will get to taste a variety of fruits ranging from the Guava to Jack Fruit. You will be happy you went.

Prison/Chagua Island is a smaller island visible from Stone Town. Visit Prison Island on a private tour from Stone Town, and enjoy a whole new world of a unique population of Giant Tortoises, incredible snorkeling, and historical buildings. While on this private tour, you’ll have the flexibility to discover the island at your own pace, whether you’re exploring the ruined prison or feeding the slow-moving tortoises. If the weather permits calm waters, you will also be able to check out the coral reef for a close up view of tropical picturesque fish. Don’t forget your underwater cameras!

This tour will give you a chance to search for the Dolphins, possibly swim with them and snorkel. While there is no guarantee you will see them right away, there is at least an 80% chance that you will see the Dolphins. They are wild so if you pray and have luck on your side you just might have one of the best days of your lives.
